But when his father recognized other members of his son’s B Company while walking to Camp Victory’s dining facility, he started frantically looking for his own son.
Within minutes the two were united with the help of an officer who intervened.
“All he said was, ‘Oh, my God,’ and he hugged me for what seemed like five minutes,” the elder Peter Joyce wrote.
They wound up spending the next five hours together, including sharing a meal together and shopping at the military base store.
